Hippotherapy

What Makes Us Different?

Treatment Sessions

Hour long one-on-one sessions with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. No passing you off to other practitioners and no basic exercises that don’t address why you’re coming to see us.

Find the Why

We want to ensure we’re not just getting rid of symptoms for a short time, but truly finding the cause behind the symptoms so they don’t come back.

Whole Body Approach

At Cultivate, we want to ensure that we’re not overlooking other areas of the body that may be causing pain or dysfunction in another. This is why we look at the whole body when assessing patients.

Meet Your Therapist

Hello! My name is Dr. Sarah Abbott, and I am the owner and physical therapist at Cultivate. Throughout my career as a physical therapist I have treated various types of patients, but I have a special interest in treating pelvic floor dysfunction in children and adults. I have also taken additional continuing education in utilizing equine movement to improve physical ability and quality of life with my patients. I am putting this into action at Rhythms of Grace in Dallas Center, IA.

The name Cultivate came to be from my experience growing up on a small family farm in NE Iowa. I gained a lot of wonderful experiences being on the farm and have always felt a connection to a more holistic approach to medicine because of this. Being on the farm allowed me to learn the importance of considering all aspects of a plant or animals environment in order to let them thrive. I continue to use this approach when treating patients and work to consider all aspects of their physical, emotional, and spiritual well being as well as addressing environmental factors that can contribute to their overall well being.

In regards to my education, I attended Iowa State University for undergraduate work, where I received my B.S. in Kinesiology and Health. From there I attended Des Moines University where I received my Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree. In my free time I enjoy gardening, swimming, singing, playing piano, and spending time with my family.

What People Are Saying About Cultivate

“Highly recommend Sarah & Cultivate Physical Therapy! She is AMAZING! Very professional, and pleasant to work with. Never had seen a PT before I wasn't sure what to expect, but she listens, asks the right questions to determine the right path for treatment & truly cares about her patients. Very happy & would recommend Sarah to anyone needing a PT!”

“Dr. Sarah is fantastic! She has helped both my newborn son and me so much after birth. My son was favoring his head towards one side and was developing an abnormal head shape because of this. She identified the issue and showed me some stretches that I could do with him to help with the tight muscles causing him to favor one side. She also evaluated my core for diastasis recti following birth and gave me some exercises to help strengthen and heal my core. My son and I have both seen great improvements since working with Sarah. Highly recommend!”
